I had to cut them off...

I just recently turned a year older.

As I look back on the previous year, I realized that it was like Botany with a bit of lubricant. LOL

First off, I embraced the power of taking that first leap of faith —- as for my case, freelancing.

It wasn't as easy as a stroll down a familiar path —- it was more of navigating through a maze without a map. 😂

I sought the right people that would be able to help me through my journey.

In the process, I realized that some people in my circle do not share the same vision.

Not because they’re complacent on where they are now but rather they are “where” they’re supposed to be.

And I want to be there too… Where I’m supposed to be. Where I want to be.

I needed to find my place.

In finding the right people, I had to cut off some connections that no longer served my growth.

It wasn't easy but sometimes we need to create space for those who truly align with our journey.

Not that I’m complaining… I knew what I wanted and wanting this came with a cost.

I was prepared.

Freelancing taught me that growth happens when we take risks and trust the process.

Much like when pruning your plants — you cut off some leaves to encourage growth.

It opened doors for me for new opportunities, to rejections (and more on the way! haha), allowed me to connect with incredible people,  and showed me that it’s never too late to chase your dreams.

Every once in a while, I get encouragement. A little cheer from people you barely know is like grease to keep your gears turning.

My advice to you —- it’s never too late! Take that leap.

You don’t have to be perfect. Just start.

Who knows where that first step will take you?

It might just take you to your people. 🤼
